Según ha anunciado ka empresa responsable de este juego de cartas, Wizards of the Coast, el lanzamiento de Magic:The Gathering - Duels of The Planewalkers 2012 será en verano. El juego estará disponible solo mediante descarga en las distintas plataformas de hoy día, Playstation Network, Xbox Live y Steam, incluyéndose múltiples novedades con respecto a su anterior entrega Magic: The Gathering - Duels of Planeswalkers, que ya goza de medio millón de descargas a través de Xbox Live.
